Our Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismology department is dedicated to diagnosing and treating eye conditions in infants, children, and adolescents, including eye misalignment (strabismus or squint). We provide complete medical and surgical care in a child-friendly environment, supported by modern diagnostics and highly trained specialists.
Children’s eyes are constantly developing, and early detection of visual problems is critical to ensuring lifelong healthy vision. Our expert pediatric ophthalmologists and strabismus surgeons offer individualized care plans designed to correct issues early and prevent long-term vision loss.
Common Childhood Eye Problems We Treat:
- Refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism)
- Amblyopia (lazy eye)
- Strabismus (eye misalignment)
- Congenital cataracts
- Pediatric glaucoma
- Blocked tear ducts
- Vision development delays
What is Strabismology?
Strabismology is the diagnosis and treatment of strabismus, commonly known as squint, where the eyes do not align properly. It may be present from birth or develop later due to neurological issues, trauma, or uncorrected refractive errors. Strabismus can result in double vision, poor depth perception, cosmetic concerns, and lazy eye if left untreated.
Our Diagnostic and Treatment Tools Include:
- Pediatric visual acuity testing (age-specific)
- Orthoptic evaluation and prism testing
- Synoptophore and Hess chart analysis
- Cycloplegic refraction (to detect hidden numbers)
- Vision therapy and patching for amblyopia
- Surgical correction of squint (adjustable or fixed sutures)
- Post-operative alignment and binocular vision training
